The Texas Education Agency posts final financial accountability reports to its official web site. The final ratings are openly reported to the general public and to other interested parties. However, preliminary ratings can be viewed only by authorized users of the School FIRST system (see below).
School FIRST is a secure web application that can be accessed by approved users from any computer with an active Internet connection and web browser software. In most cases, School FIRST users are TEA staff, school district staff, and ESC financial specialists who also use other Agency financial applications.
To request access to School FIRST:
Apply online via the TEASE Add/Modify Application Access feature (if you already have a TEASE login)
Use the Request Access Online feature from the TEA web site (if you do not have a TEASE login) or
Contact the TEA's School Financial Audits division at (512) 463-9095 or schoolaudits@tea.texas.gov
Access to School FIRST is coordinated so that users can view or enter information appropriate to their needs:
District Users |
District staff with access to the system can view the preliminary FIRST report for the district (in full detail), as well as the final FIRST reports for other districts (once they have been published). |
ESC Users |
ESC staff with access to the system can view the preliminary FIRST reports for all districts within the region (in full detail), as well as the final FIRST reports for other districts (once they have been published). |
Internal TEA Users |
TEA staff with access to the system can view preliminary and final reports (in full detail) for all districts in the state. |
Administrators |
Some TEA School Audits staff members have administrative access to the system. These administrators can view preliminary and final reports for all districts in the state, re-run calculations, update data, "force" indicators to pass, publish reports to the web, etc. |
