To view the calculations used to determine the rating for an indicator, click the indicator description on the report:
The system displays the name and number of the district, the description of the indicator, whether the district passed or failed for this indicator, and the date & time this indicator was last updated:
|
The system also displays the formula used to derive the indicator's status (if applicable):
Any values which have been manually edited by the FIRST administrator appear in a shaded gray box (rather than the typical white box).
Formulas are indicated with mathematical signs (-, +, *, /, <, >) and groupings at the left side of the screen. For example, the following indicator formula:
(
Number of Students
/ Number of FTE Staff
> Standard Lower Limit Ratio of Students to Staff
)
And
(
Number of Students
/ Number of FTE Staff
< Standard Upper Limit Ratio of Students to Staff
)
means that:
the number of students divided by the number of FTE staff must be greater than the acceptable lower limit ratio, AND
the number of students divided by the number of FTE staff must be less than the acceptable upper limit ratio
The Value column on the right side of the screen displays the values that were actually used to calculate this indicator for this district. To the right of each value is an icon with a ? symbol in the center. Position your cursor over this icon to see how this value was derived by the system (usually from external sources, such as PEIMS or the district's Annual Financial Report), as shown below:
(If the word "Parameter" is shown when you display the derivation for a value, this indicates that the value came directly from a parameter that is defined in the FIRST system by the TEA, and that the same value is used for all districts.)
