ESL-PROGRAM-TYPE-CODE indicates whether the student is participating in a state-approved English as a Second Language (ESL) program. An ESL program provides intensive instruction in English through second language acquisition methods in all content area TEKS (mathematics, science, health, and social studies) for emergent bilingual (EB)/English learner (EL) students.
