No. All of the AskTED search features provide public information.
Yes. TED administrators, district superintendents, and ESC executive directors may request AskTED update access. Apply for a username and password by visiting TEA Login (TEAL) and then click Request New User Account. TEA Computer Access emails usernames and passwords directly to the applicant.
TED administrators (district or ESC) are appointed by their superintendents or executive directors and are responsible for keeping AskTED current. Through their AskTED access, they can change campus grade spans; update superintendent, administrative staff, and principal records; and change addresses, phone numbers, and fax numbers.
TEA's Charter School Division updates contact information for charter schools and districts. You can reach them by email at CharterAskTED@tea.texas.gov or by telephone at (512) 463-9575. You can also refer to the Charter School Division home page.
The district enrollments in AskTED are a snapshot as of October of the most recent school year for which data exist. District enrollment as of October counts will not change until new district enrollments are loaded the following March. If a district has a campus that was made obsolete in AskTED since the enrollment snapshot in October, this campus will no longer be in the district’s list of schools. Nevertheless, the campus’s reported enrollment will still be included in the total district enrollment count. In addition, campus counts will not sum to a district count if a campus’s enrollment is masked.
Note: |
If the enrollment is shown as -1, this indicates the enrollment count was masked, or suppressed, according to FERPA to protect student anonymity. |
If you are not working on behalf of an ESC, district, or school, you may report AskTED errors by contacting the TEA TED Administrator at AskTED@tea.texas.gov or (512) 463-9809.
AskTED is a directory of Texas public schools. The Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC) maintains a directory of nonpublic schools accredited by one or more of the 14 accreditation commissions under its umbrella. You can view directory information about accredited private schools on TEPSAC's website.
The U.S. Department of Education assigns National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) school and district IDs through the Education Data Exchange Network (EDEN) system. NCES IDs are added to AskTED each year, usually in May, including new NCES IDs for schools and districts added to AskTED since the previous year. Districts and campuses without NCES IDs are assigned one during the spring of the following year. Note that TEA does not assign NCES IDs, and school districts cannot directly apply for one.
