The Download School and District Data File option on the Reports and Directories menu allows you to download a text file in CSV (comma-separated values) format containing all the public schools and districts in Texas.
Download File Screen
Simply select a sort option, and then click Download File. It can take a few seconds for the file to be generated. Click the button only once.
File Download Dialog
If your browser does not automatically save download links, a File Download dialog will appear. Save the file to your hard drive, then open it in any desired application. Clicking Open in the File Download dialog can cause the file to be opened in a browser add-in, which might result in reduced functionality.
Example Columns with Prefixed Apostrophes
Columns of data that can contain leading zeroes, such as the Region Number and the District Number, contain prepended apostrophes. Some spreadsheet programs, such as Microsoft Excel, discard leading zeroes if the apostrophe is missing when the file is first opened. However, once the file is open, you can remove the apostrophes without losing the leading zeroes. To do this, select the desired column, then Replace All apostrophes with another apostrophe. Save the file as an Excel file (rather than CSV), and the leading zeroes will be preserved.
